Updates to SFCM Programming for 2020-2021
The coronavirus is upending all of our lives. Like everything else, Syracuse Friends of Chamber Music has been affected. We must remain flexible as we deal with the ever-changing environment. These are the adjustments to our programming to date:
The Jupiter String Quartet will record the Beethoven op. 74 “Harp” Quartet for our September 25th concert, but they will not be able to come to Syracuse to join the Jasper String Quartet in the Mendelssohn Octet. Four outstanding local musicians will join the Jaspers to bring us that beloved work: Peter Rovit and Sonya Williams, violins; Arvilla Wendland, viola; and Heidi Hoffman, cello.
The Junction Trio will open the season on October 3, replacing the Montrose Trio. Members of the Montrose Trio live far apart, and they were not able to get together to perform while the pandemic rages. We hope to welcome them to Syracuse next season.
On November 14, the Pacifica Quartet will perform the scheduled Higdon piece, “Voices,” but the rest of that concert will consist of two Beethoven quartets, one of the earliest (op. 18, no. 1) and one of the latest (op. 132).
