SFCM’s annual Youth Chamber Music Competition will again be held virtually in 2023.

There is no entry fee for the competition. Participating ensembles can have 3 to 8 musicians and each must have a coach. Students must be in grades 7 through 12 and enrolled in a New York school district within 90 miles of Syracuse or home-schooled in one of those districts.

Complete rules

Each ensemble will receive written evaluations from our two judges, and students in one or two of the ensembles will be selected to receive prize money. A winning group will be invited to perform at the beginning of our April 1 SFCM subscription concert just ahead of the Nakamatsu, Frautschi, Manasse Trio. Coaches will receive a small payment for their time.

These are the winners and competitors from the SFCM Youth Chamber Music Competition held virtually in April 2022. Our hearty thanks to this year's judges, violinist Will Knuth and violist Jessica Tumajyan.
